I want to talk about something we don’t say out loud enough: What happens when we do everything right—and it still falls apart?
When the habits are in place, the calendar is set, the intentions are strong—and then life says, “Not so fast.”
This episode of Consider the Possibilities is all about what it takes to restart your momentum when you’ve lost it.
And if you’ve ever felt stuck—like you were moving through quicksand—you’re not alone.
I’ve been there. Recently, actually.
Coming back from a long trip to Europe, I hit a major slump. No energy. No motivation. Nothing in the tank. The political climate felt heavy. The weather was awful. And for a few weeks, I was just… off.
Sound familiar?
And that’s the thing about momentum—it’s not linear.
We love the feeling of forward motion, of productivity and flow.
But the minute something disrupts our rhythm—an illness, a bad boss, a personal crisis—we’re suddenly on the sidelines, unsure of how to get back in the game.
So how do you restart?
That was a big one for me.
When we get knocked off track, the last thing we need is guilt and shame. That inner voice telling you you’re lazy or falling behind? Shut it down. Instead, we need to acknowledge what’s changed, take stock of what we can control, and allow ourselves to move at a new pace—if needed.
You’re not broken. You’re just being asked to pause. Honor that.
Just one.
I started journaling. Then meditating. Then slowly got back into light workouts. Before I knew it, that single step created enough friction to build momentum again. Not because I magically got my mojo back—but because I took action.
It wasn’t massive. It wasn’t magical. It was movement.
And one of my favorite metaphors says it best:
At 211 degrees, water is hot. But at 212 degrees, it boils. And boiling water? Powers a train.
That one extra degree makes all the difference.
Whether it’s a boss who doesn’t value you, a client who suddenly changes the rules, or a health issue that sidelines you—these are not failures.
They’re feedback.
They’re just bumps.
Bumps that force us to recalibrate, refocus, and sometimes reprioritize.
This isn’t the end of your story. It’s just a messy middle moment.
If you’re stuck right now, or feeling off, I want you to know: You’re probably just one small step—or one single degree—away from movement.
Momentum isn’t lost. It’s just waiting for you to take the next step.
Listen to the episode and then tell me:
→ What’s one area where you need to restart?
Let’s talk about it on social or send me a message.
I’m listening.
