Busy, successful and hard-driving women tell me that they ‘often serve themselves last’, and that self-care often strikes them as selfish.
I’d like to have you consider that self-care is essential and selfless, not selfish. If you don’t ‘put on your oxygen mask on first’, how can you help anyone else?
In this episode, I do a ‘stream-of -consciousness’ on how to best organize and plan the things that you know will have you show up as the better version of you.
Fitness
Finding alternative exercise options and making time for fitness in small increments can help incorporate physical activity into a busy schedule–spurts are all the rage now anyway. So, if time is your stumbling block, remove it by incorporating spurts/mini-sessions. Additionally, taking downtime and practicing meditation can promote relaxation and mental well-being.
Cosmetics/Skin/body products
Try to look for less toxic and more natural ingredients for the things you put on and in your body.
Protein (non-animal)
Protein and amino acids play a vital role in maintaining energy levels and supporting physical performance. I do 5 amino acids BEFORE a workout and 5 amino acids AFTER a workout. Each amino acid tablet is 2.5 grams of protein (all absorbed, not digested within 23 minutes) so an easy way to ingest 25 grams without breaking a sweat (sorry, could not resist the pun!) Knowing your love language
And finally, understanding your own love language is a way to determine your most impactful self-care solutions. The five love languages are words of affirmation, physical touch, receiving gifts, quality time, and acts of service. If you know which of these really makes an impact for you, focus on planning something, or asking your loved one(s) for something that will do it for you! Here is a link to a free quiz.
