“Done is better than perfect.” That’s the mantra that changed my life. And if you’re stuck waiting for the perfect moment to start something—whether it’s a health goal, a career move, or a life change—it’s time for a reality check. Because perfection is a lie. And worse? It’s a stalling tactic.
In my latest Consider the Possibilities podcast episode, I’m tackling why small, intentional choices matter more than big, lofty goals. We’re talking micro-decisions, time management, and why living intentionally beats running on autopilot.
Perfectionism isn’t a badge of honor—it’s a crutch.
So many of us put off making progress because we think we need everything to be just right before we take action. We tell ourselves, “I’ll start working out when I have the perfect routine,” or “I’ll apply for that job once I have all the qualifications.” But guess what? Life never “calms down.”
The result? We wait. We hesitate. We stay stuck.
The truth is, nothing is ever 100% ready. Nothing is ever flawless. The people who get ahead are the ones who start anyway.
Think about compounded interest—small deposits over time turn into massive wealth. The same applies to your habits.
→ Want to be healthier? Walk up the stairs instead of taking the elevator.
→ Want to improve your finances? Skip that impulse buy and put the cash into savings.
→ Want better relationships? Send a “thinking of you” text instead of waiting for the “right” moment to reconnect.
Every choice we make—no matter how small—adds up.
If you don’t schedule time for what matters to YOU, someone else will fill it for you.
You ever have a day where you wake up, check your email, get pulled into a dozen other people’s priorities, and suddenly it’s 6 PM and you’ve done nothing for yourself? That’s what happens when you live in reaction mode instead of intentional mode.
How to fix it:
→ Color-Code Your Calendar – If your schedule isn’t reflecting joy (family time, exercise, self-care), it’s time to shift priorities.
→ Shrink Your Meetings – Default to 25-minute meetings instead of an hour—because let’s be honest, most don’t need 60 minutes.
→ Audit Your Commitments – If it doesn’t bring you joy or move you toward your goals, say no.
→ Batch Similar Tasks – Group tasks together and knock them out efficiently.
Successful people don’t “find” time for what matters—they MAKE it.
If your day looks like this:
…then you’re running on autopilot.
Instead, ask yourself:
→ Am I making intentional choices—or just reacting to life?
→ Do my daily actions align with my long-term goals?
→ Am I saying YES to things that don’t serve me?
Because here’s the truth: Living intentionally means making choices on purpose, not by default.
If you improve by just 1% every day, you don’t just get a little better—you get exponentially better.
→ 1% improvement daily = 37X better in a year.
→ 1% worse daily = Near zero progress.
It’s not about doing everything at once—it’s about doing something every day.
At the end of the day, here’s what I want you to remember:
→ Done is better than perfect.
→ Small choices compound into massive change.
→ Your time is your most valuable asset—spend it wisely.
→ Intentional living > autopilot living.
Now, here’s your challenge: Make ONE micro-decision today that moves you forward.
→ Write it down. Share it. Commit to it.
Because progress beats perfection—every time.
With gratitude,
Monique
